Raconteur Press’ latest anthology, The Muse Within Us, arrives today, featuring my story “The Others.”
The tale centers on Cody Cross, a musician who travels the backroads of the country, playing in dive bars and using his special talents to bring comfort to people in need. It’s a mission to atone for the sins of a dark past that haunts him in more ways than one. That history slaps him in the face when a mob boss with a nephew, Izzy, who wants to be a rock star figures it out and uses it to strongarm him into helping make that dream a reality.
Cody finds himself in a place that he never wanted to be again — reliving his rock glories and tragedies as Stevie Blade on the biggest stages in the country. When he accidentally shares the beings that he knows as the whispers with Izzy, he finds himself fighting to help prevent another disaster.
