On Oct. 18, you’ll meet a character I’m very excited about. He’s roamed the plains in my mind for several years now, and his first story, “Blackhand,” will be featured in the upcoming anthology Wyrd West: Cursed Canyon from Raconteur Press. Bart, known often as No Man’s Son, solves problems of a special sort. In this story, he’s called to the town of Buckhorn Hill to deal with a gang of outlaws whose leader has shown off some flashy powers. After confirming the man is a Blackhand, a magic user who pulled too much power and been driven mad, Bart takes the job to rid the town of the menace, but in the process discovers the dark past that he’s been running from has caught up with him.
I’m eager for people (other than the ones in my head) to meet Bartimaeus. You’ll hear from him again.
